VIZIO Internet Apps
This VIZIO HDTV includes the VIZIO Internet Apps feature (VIA), and it comes pre-loaded with Flickr, Netflix, Rhapsody, Twitter, VUDU and Yahoo TV Widgets, ready to launch on-screen at the touch of a single button on the premium Bluetooth universal remote control. A high-speed Internet connection is required to access content and receive product updates, and this model enables you to connect to the Internet via integrated Wireless-N Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet.
When you press the VIA button on your remote, the Apps Dock appears along the bottom of your screen with a selection of different Apps that let you watch movies, TV shows, listen to music, or get weather and news information all on demand. In addition to the providers listed above, new partners for 2010 include:
- blip.tv: Blip.tv is an online television network that hosts the best original shows on the Web; from scripted sitcoms and dramas to shows about fashion, technology, politics and more.
- CBS: The CBS Widget offers easy access to CBS schedule information, program metadata, previews and clips, cast photos and BIOS, and more.
- NBC: View NBC's show schedule, view full screen photo galleries and catch up on your favorite shows with up-to-date quick text recaps, cast BIOS, and more.
- CNBC: The CNBC widget allows you to interact with CNBC's real-time stock quotes direct from the NYSE and NASDAQ, real-time watchlists to track favorite stocks, and other key analytics.
- iMemories: Now all your old home movies, photos and slides can be watched directly on your VIZIO TV with iMemories. iMemories digitally converts and preserves all your favorite memories online, regardless of the original media format.
- Roxio CinemaNow: The Roxio CinemaNow platform enables you to instantly access a broad range of high-quality digital entertainment from your favorite consumer electronic devices.
- The Weather Channel: Get your weather forecast when you want it with the press of your remote. The Weather Channel Widget delivers current conditions, the 5-day forecast and more for your zip code and thousands more.
More Picture
6 Times the Picture Data on DVDs
See everything your HDTV can show you. Blu-ray Disc's Full HD 1080p resolution produces over 2 million pixels per frame to produce a razor-sharp picture with unmatched depth and clarity that takes full advantage of the capabilities of today's 1080p HDTVs. That's six times the picture data contained on DVDs, which are encoded at only 480p.
24p True Cinema Video Output
Most Hollywood movies are shot at 24 frames per second, and Blu-ray Disc movies are mastered at 24 frame per second, so it is only fitting that Blu-ray Disc players can output your films at 1080/24p for a true film-like experience at home. Blu-ray disc players can also output at 1080/60p for more traditional HDTV sets on the market. Either way, you covered for the best picture possible in Full 1080p.
Backwards compatible and Upscaling
All existing Blu-ray Disc players will play your standard DVD collection without a problem. And with built-in 1080p video upscaling, they'll look even better.
More Sound
This VIZIO Blu-ray player is compatible with Dolby TrueHD, Dolby's next-generation lossless technology developed for high-definition disc-based media. Dolby TrueHD delivers tantalizing sound that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master, unlocking the true high-definition entertainment experience on next-generation discs. When coupled with high-definition video, Dolby TrueHD offers an unprecedented home theater experience that lets you enjoy sound as stunning as the high-definition picture.
- Delivers studio-master-quality sound that unlocks the true high-definition entertainment experience on next-generation discs
- Offers more discrete channels than ever before for impeccable surround sound
- Compatible with the A/V receivers and home-theaters-in-a-box (HTIBs) of today and tomorrow

Most Helpful Customer Reviews
Very pleased with this player. Wireless connectivity works great, playback is fantastic, and a good variety of apps. Also pleasantly suprised with the great upconvert quality on standard DVDs (can be hit-or-miss for Blu Ray players)...had a couple others make this observation as well.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This unit is easy to setup for wireless and
does play BR and DVDs without issue. There are however several misconceptions
over what this unit does you may get from reading the Vizio website. This unit
does not come with an HDMI cable like their website says (the box correctly
says it does not). It also does not play any movies/video clips from the USB.
The streaming newsfeeds are also text only. Most importantly the website
recommends you should get their dual 2.4/5GHz router for best performance.
This unit does not have a 5GHz radio so there is no reason to buy their
router. The unit also has clunky controls compared to mainline brands. The
unit doesn't respond to all commands and doesn't do things like close the disk
tray when you push play. It also doesn't have resume play which I consider a
necessity. Lack of TV controls on the remote are also a major oversight.
All my petty complaints aside the streaming Netflix does have a very nice
picture when streaming HD. The buffer seems to be adequate to avoid
interruptions. Netflix does drop out occasionally but I think this is
Netflix's issue. I did have an issue when operating in 802.11b that it will
not connect when positioned on top of my settop box. With 802.11n it does work
even when racked. Your results may very on location but there is some
interference from other electronics. Pandora operates without any problem and
the sound is good over RCA cables.
For the price you have to commend Vizio for the features they deliver but I
think it's necessary to point out the flaws which most likely came from
rushing this product to market. This seems to be the new norm in american
business.
